What's Wrong with Us?

Guys what's going on? Where are we heading now? After yesterday's loss to MCC I by 14 runs, we have reached a very low point in our season. If we can not chase 159 against a very mediocore bowling attack, then we have to look within ourselves and ask the questions are we the same team which went to the finals last year? On paper we are practically the same team. But difference is we are playing way below our capacity. Of all the four teams we lost to, only CCC has a little bit better side then us. We should have been 3-1 instead we are 0-4. I take lot of pride in HICC and I am sure you all feel the same way. What I see now is that we all are not on the same page and we are looking for each others faults. A team can only win if everyone pulls in the same direction. We all have our pluses and minuses but when we play as a team, we all should be positive and pick up each other. I am not blaming one person for the losses but we all are collectively to be blamed. We all know our limitations and we all play to enjoy our Sunday but there is no joy in losing to a lesser teams. I think as a player we all should learn to be more diciplined. It goes for everyone. I want you guys to have more enjoyment in playing the game. I am sure some of you may have your feelings about the things happen during the game. I know everone puts their 100 % in the game and try to do best to their ability. It is Captain's job to keep the team as an unit. It's his job to bring out the best in all the players. Sometimes he may expect more certain people because he knows they can do better but at the same time it's Captain's job to handle all the players more carefully. I believe in encouraging the players when they make mistakes to coorect them instead of getting upset with them. We all make mistakes and best leader is the one who makes the player forget the last mistake and concentrate on the job at hand. Adro catche or a misfield boundry can not be changed but if that player still thinking the same thing on next ball or over he will make another mistake. Let us play and enjoy the the game. Another thing I noticed consistantly is the roation of strike, very few batsman looks for gaps and taking ones and twos when the field is spread out. We miss so many runs that way and at the end we try to catch up with big shots. Every batsmen hs to be more alert and always look at the field set up and know where the weak fielders are. We know all the teams and their players. In bowling we gave too many extras in wide balls. That' just a gift. Every game in the score of less then 200 hundred we have given 20 -25 wides that's almost 10 to 15 % of their total. Each bowler shall take responsibility for that, specially the fast bowlers. It's still not late and we can do better and improve but we all have to work hard for it. I hope what I said makes any sense. It's just my feeling as I am just a member of HICC who likes my club to be number one. I do not like losing. I know winning is not everything but it's important and when you win in a right way it makes you feel good. Winning is a habit nad once we win 1st one , the next one will follow. Let's start a winning streak. Good Luck and see you all on Wednesday at practice.

I agree with you Kaka. We have to back each other on the field and inject a sense of togetherness to achieve positive results. It is a team game and we win or loose as a team. It is not positive to have finger pointing game going on within the team. It is only going to hurt us. Being part of the team, I see that everyone puts in their best of efforts in fielding but mistakes do happen. It is just part of the game. In such situations, I would like to see other players encouraging him to do better next time. It is no point in dwelling on such mistakes over and over and then carrying it over to other members of the team.

I am sure we are going to start winning again. But we need to put in that extra bit and take responsibilities to bring a win! Good Luck.
