Respect for your Captain & your Teammates

Yesterday we lost the game but thats the part of of the game. I was not there earlier during our fielding but what I heard that there was no respect for Captain and some of the other teammates. I am not here to say anything to anyone but the rightway to play cricket is to follow the instructions from your leader-your Captain on the ground. My age, my seniority with the club or any other position I held with the club does not give me any right to not do what my captain wants. On game day he is my boss and I should follow every order he gives me. We can not degrade our own Captain infront of others. We have chosen our captain for the year, then we should respect him. Anyone who has suggestion to do better for the game should go to Captain and let him know. Its always Captain's decision to do what he thinks is best for the team. We can only win as a team, no individual player is above the team. Even during our batting some of the things happened which should not have happened. Guys its our club, its our team, its our captain and its our teammates. We all need to learn to respect each other, speciall on the field. Its ok when we are joking away from the playing field,  but during the game we should follow our captain and play as a team. No one has bad intentions but when too many people try to tell different things to filders or bowlers, then they dont know whom to listen. All the senior members of the club have added responsibility to set a good example on youngsters to follow the Captains wishes. We are one big family who plays cricket together. Let us show some respect. Everyone is responsible for our club. Just Do It. This is just my opinion and my feelings for my club- HICC. Good Luck.

Re: Respect for your Captain & your Teammates

Thank you, Kaka.

As everyone knows in the team, I have tried my best to set some rules to follow so that everyone feels welcomed and encouraged to play in the team. I even repeat myself before the game so that it is fresh in everyone’s mind while we play. It is just sad that a couple "seniors" of the team have attitude problem. I can take the defeat on the field any day but not without trying our best to win. I have had these issues since beginning of the season and I felt, perhaps, with time and understanding it will get better. But it is not happening and I do not feel it will happen. I have a few things in mind which I will try it out. If not, I can move on to other things.

It is really surprising to see all these non-sense. It was my understanding that we play cricket every Sunday out of our passion for the game and for the spirit of winning. It is not for the individual glory but rather a team glory. These things can not be taught because it is "common-sense". And "common-sense" is something acquired by age 16 not 60!

Sincerely,
Bhavesh
